I live in a world of caveats
I hide behind Boston
I have love
And history
I am the byproduct of industry
and political television
I have pain It’s everywhere I
tread lightly but I tread heavily
I love I want to love I am love
I want to be love I want everything
I am nothing I am pain I’ve
caused pain I have pain Do you want
some I love you but I’ve loved me
more I’m weak and I’m strong Don’t
crack the shell Are the layers black
Don’t you dare I can’t guarantee what
will happen or what won’t Should
I write or paint or dance with
the murderer that witnesses me
I’ve blurred the lines
and started to write
about myself instead of you We see
ourselves in each other but I’m not
from Boston I’ve never been
Above is Draft 1, below is Draft 7… It is interesting to see the contrast. To me, Draft 7 loses emotion, but is more succinct and has better flow at the end.
