Size of the palm of my hand. These guys are too cool!
Drying rack
Bear cage [for us, keep them out of camp site]
Liard hotsprings
Something about the hot springs made my hair feel like it hasn’t been washed in 6 days. Grimey! I took a Becca shower this morning and it helped… Glad it was sunny and warm, not raining!!
Heading to Mt. Robson! Highest peak in the Rockies!
I saw my little friends’ carcass yesterday. I wanted to take the skull, but I didn’t have anything that could cut through the flesh so I left it overnight, thinking - naively - I’d be able to grab it then.
Poor fella got ran over again and the skull was not salvageable.
Ravens ate the eyes I think. Common practice.
Now I want a carcass.
The stretch of highway between Liard Hotsprings and Jasper National Park is I.N.S.A.N.E. ——>
Mountain Goats
Caribou [Raindeer]
Caribou
Large female moose up on the left. I pulled up next to her and listened to her drink. Yes, listened. Absolutely amazing. Good cadence of inhale and swallow.
Eventually she got tired of the traffic and walked into the forest.
More mountain goats
More moose
Turning around to pick up a dead pheasant
Did you want more animals?
BISON!
People on the road are so nice. Ken shared a beer with me and we exchanged stories. He is a retired bush pilot who has flown missions all over the world. His son following in his footsteps!
My dead pheasant prize. Took head and some feathers. Left the rest for the bears. Fresh enough to eat, but not enough patience.
Inga Lake, Alberta - my 3rd Canadian province!

Morning windshield note. :)

Continuing on to Mt. Robson
Holly shit, Jasper is like the Yosemite Circus. Way less chill than Alberta and norther British Columbia. Way more traffic and city psychos!
Arrived to Mt. Robson. FEED ME.
This is the best canned salmon I’ve ever had.
